Paul Maritz Paul Maritz
Chief Executive Officer, Pivotal Inc.

Pivotal Chief Executive Officer Paul Maritz formed Pivotal in 2013, having previously served as Chief Strategist of EMC and CEO of VMware. During his tenure at VMware, he led transformation of the company from a technology leader in virtualization to a category leader in cloud computing. Maritz remains a member of VMware's board of directors.

Prior to joining VMware, Maritz was President of the Cloud Infrastructure and Services Division at EMC after the company's February 2008 acquisition of Pi, where he was the founder and CEO. Before founding Pi, Maritz spent 14 years working at Microsoft, where he served as a member of the five-person Executive Committee that managed the overall company, and was responsible for the product development and marketing of the Windows Client.
Melissa Ries Melissa Ries
Vice President and General Manager, Pivotal Asia Pacific & Japan

Melissa Ries is the Vice President & General Manager at Pivotal in Asia Pacific and Japan. Prior to Pivotal, Melissa served the same role for EMC's Greenplum Division. She is responsible for managing the sales and operations across Asia Pacific. She joined EMC in 2009 to manage part of the EMC's APJ IIG Division sales related to Information Governance and Information Access.

Before joining EMC, Melissa was the Managing Director, Business Objects, Greater China. She joined Business Objects in 2007, having spent ten years at SSA Global where she held global, regional and country level roles, each directly and indirectly related to sales management. During Melissa's twenty-two years of experience in the software industry she has held various positions across sales, pre-sales, services, support, marketing and R&D. She has significant global experience, having lived and worked in Japan, US, China, Singapore and Australia.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Queensland, and has a CPA qualification. She is currently based in Singapore.
Jags Ramnarayan Jags Ramnarayan
Chief Architect of Data Fabric, Pivotal

Jags is the chief architect for high performance data management products at Pivotal. At pivotal and previously at VMWare he led the technology direction for its high performance distributed data Grid and in-memory DB products. He also plays an active role in the company strategy for data services, loves working with customers and is a frequent speaker on "distributed data" in several conferences. He has spent more than two decades in this industry and has a bachelors degree in computer science and a masters degree in management of science and technology.
Adrian Colyer Adrian Colyer
Chief Technology Officer, Application Fabric, Pivotal

Adrian Colyer is Architect, Application Fabric at Pivotal. Prior to Pivotal, Adrian joined VMware in 2009 and served as CTO through VMware's acquisition of SpringSource. He led the AspectJ project at Eclipse.org and oversaw the integration of aspect-oriented concepts into the Spring Framework, helping to grow the SpringSource portfolio into the rich set of projects and products that exist today.

In 2004, Adrian was recognized by MIT Technology Review as one of the top 100 young innovators in the world.
Andy Piper Andy Piper
Developer Advocate, Cloud Foundry, Pivotal

Andy Piper is widely known as a Social Bridgebuilder and speaker, and works as Developer Advocate for Cloud Foundry, the Open Source Platform-as-a-Service. His passions span a wide variety of areas: cloud, devops, mobile devices, the Internet of Things, Arduino and similar technologies, social computing, education, LEGO, and photography. He is project lead and developer on the Eclipse Paho lightweight messaging project.

Andy was previously with IBM Software Group for more than 10 years, as a consultant, strategist, and WebSphere Messaging Community Lead. He has 15 years of experience consulting in enterprise software, has contributed to many Open Source projects, and has helped to organise and run a variety of hackdays and other events. He is also a regular contributor on a number of technology-related podcasts, and can often be found at events across the London technology scene.

Andy holds a Master of Arts (Oxf) in Modern History from Brasenose College, Oxford University, and is a member of bcs, the Chartered Institute for IT.
Greg Whalen Greg Whalen
Chief Data Scientist, Pivotal, Asia Pacific & Japan

Greg Whalen is Chief Data Scientist, APJ at Pivotal. Greg is responsible for Pivotal's Data Science practice in Asia-Pacific across all industries. He and his team deliver high-volume, "Big Data" analytics solutions to customers using Pivotal's key analytics platform and products. Greg is based in Singapore with a team of data scientists distributed around Asia Pacific.Greg has helped numerous companies implement advanced predictive algorithms over large sets of data and deploy the necessary technologies to operationalize these models.

Prior to Pivotal, Greg was Vice President, Global Development Center at Experian in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he built and grew a team of data scientists and software developers towards creating Experian's next generation of Marketing Services products. Greg also led product development of Experian CheetahMail, one of the largest digital marketing platforms in the world. He has held technical leadership roles at advertising agencies and worked as a researcher to predict patient length of stay and recovery paths following heart transplants.

Greg holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Music from Wesleyan University.
Dekel Tankel Dekel Tankel,
Director of Customer Engagements, Cloud Foundry, Pivotal

Dekel Tankel is Director of Customer Engagements at Pivotal Cloud Foundry product group. Dekel leads customer adoption and product marketing for Cloud Foundry's private, public and ecosystem offerings. Dekel has led the product marketing launch of Cloud Foundry - the world's first open Platform as a Service (PaaS). Dekel has more than a decade of experience in the Cloud Computing, PaaS, SaaS, Application Server and middleware markets. Previously Dekel led products for Cloud and Hadoop platforms at Yahoo! and served in leading technical roles at several Cloud Computing and middleware companies. Dekel holds an MBA degree in Business Management and a BA degree in Computer Science.
Josh  Long Josh Long,
Developer Advocate, SpringSource, Pivotal

Josh Long is the Spring developer advocate. Josh is the lead author on Apress' Spring Recipes, 2nd Edition, and a SpringSource committer and contributor. When he's not hacking on code, he can be found at the local Java User Group or at the local coffee shop. Josh likes solutions that push the boundaries of the technologies that enable them. His interests include scalability, BPM, grid processing, mobile computing and so-called "smart" systems.

Peter Cooper Peter Cooper,
Pivotal APJ, Field Engineering and Professional Services

Peter Cooper came to Pivotal through the acquisition of Greenplum where he was responsible for technical team in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). The small Greenplum team formed the basis of the newly created Data Computing Division (DCD) of EMC. Peter's previous roles included Vice President APJ Professional Services for Oracle and Business Objects.

Peter's broad experience covering both Hardware and Software solutions and experience in delivering large leading edge projects has helped ensure the success of many advanced and early adopter solutions.

Jonathan-Ballon Jonathan Ballon
Chief Strategy Officer, General Electric

Jonathan joined GE in 2012 as Chief Operating Officer of the company's global software and analytics center, a cross-business unit team focused on growing capabilities to support GE's $10B+ business. This included building and leading teams that launched the company's first cloud-based software and infrastructure platform that can be delivered to GE customers as a service. He also developed the software center's core operational capabilities and built a team focused on ecosystem partnerships and investments.

In his current role, Jonathan and his team focus on external opportunities to accelerate innovation. This includes technology partnerships and commercial licensing, equity-backed strategic alliances, acquisitions and managing an active venture investment portfolio.

Previously, Jonathan was a corporate vice president at Cisco Systems. A $45B+ company that designs, manufactures, and sells networking, software and services related to the communications and information technology industry. At Cisco, Jonathan led the Office of Strategy + Planning across over 40% of the company's revenue, representing the fastest growth areas of the business. As a direct report to the President, he played a key role in the overall strategy, planning & investment priorities across the whole of the Company.

Jonathan has served on several company Boards, and was an officer in a publicly-traded technology company. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of California, graduating summa cum laude in Economics. He earned his MBA in strategy & finance from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Southern California.

Hideki Kurihara Hideki Kurihara
Vice President, NTT Communications

Hideki Kurihara is the Product Lead for Global Cloud Services for NTT Communications. Prior to his current position, he was engaged in NTT Communications’ North American hosting and cloud operations for around 10 years at Sillicon Valley, serving managerial positions such as General Manager of the Enterprise Hosting business unit and Vice President of Global Product Strategy. Prior to that, Hideki was serving a strategic planning role to assist NTT's global business expansion initiatives including overseas investment and product global deployments. Hideki holds a Master of Science degree from University of Tokyo in Japan and a Master of Business Administration degree from INSEAD in France.

Mock Pak Lum Mock Pak Lum,
Chief Technology Officer, Starhub

Pak Lum oversees the Network Engineering and Information Services division. He is responsible for establishing StarHub's technical vision and leading all aspects of technology development. He also looks into the strategy for technology platforms and external partnerships. Pak Lum holds a Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master in Business Administration from the University of California, USA.
